Why chickens?

These low-maintenance domestic animals are a source of both food and income and can make a huge difference to a widow-led or low-income family.

What will your gift do?

Each chicken can lay over 200 eggs a year, providing a family in need with essential protein in their diet. Plus, surplus eggs can be sold to pay for schooling, clothes and medicine.

Helping Widows and Orphans (1/2)

For 15 years, we have been running a Poultry Project in Peshawar, Pakistan to empower widows. Many of its participants become self-sufficient within a year. One of the beneficiaries is the mother of Khadija, who is a student at our School of Excellence. Khadija’s mother works as a maid in her village to support four daughters and two sons.

This gift makes a difference (2/2)

Her family were struggling to meet their daily needs on such a low income. To make matters worse, they had been forced to leave their home when conflict broke out in their village. They were delighted to receive someone’s Great Charity Gift of four chickens. Khadija and her siblings now have more nutritious food to eat, and the family have an extra source of income. This simple gift has changed their lives.
