'And be good to the neighbour who is your relative and to the neighbour who is not a relative..' [Qur'an, 4:36]
Understanding and fulfilling the rights of our neighbours is an important part of Islam. Whilst your generosity here in the UK has allowed us to carry out relief work in locations across the globe, there is also a great need within our local communities, right here on our doorstep.
Since 2008, our UK Community development department has been working to tackle issues of poverty, exploitation and exclusion. Since then, we have invested in programmes over five key areas: poverty alleviation, women leadership, ex-offender rehabilitation and drug rehabilitation and youth empowerment through a variety of projects including our annual writing competition YMWA (Young Muslim Writers Awards).
