Over the past 9 years, our Muslim Hands volunteers have taken on the highest mountain in Africa, rising almost 20,000 feet, to raise vital funds for our various campaigns. Here are our volunteer experiences:
‘I have discovered things about myself on that mountain that I would never have learned in any classroom or book. These lessons will stay with me forever. When you get off the mountain, you realise that it’s not about what you have in life but rather what you surround yourself with. I was privileged to have spent my once in a lifetime journey with amazing human beings, and being able to connect with The Almighty in one of His most spectacular settings.’ Sadiyya Absalom – Kilimanjaro Participant August 2017
But for millions of children around the world, life is not so simple. Without access to nutritional food, a child dies every ten seconds from hunger-related diseases.
But it doesn’t have to be this way. With simple interventions, such as providing healthy meals, nutritional supplements and treatment for infections, so many lives can be saved.
Raising awareness is also a central part of the programme. We therefore train teachers and healthcare workers on recognising and treating malnutrition.
Now in our 25th year of relieving poverty and suffering worldwide and those affected by natural disasters, conflict and poverty.
