Over the past year, your support has made a long lasting impression in the lives of so many in need. In these web posts we explore how donations like yours have changed the lives of victims of poverty, conflicts and natural disasters.
Last year, thanks to the kind support of our donors, Muslim Hands built 2,300 wells all over Asia and Africa, providing nearly 200,000 people with clean water. The water from these wells which is used for drinking, cooking and washing has greatly impacted the health and development of the communities that use the wells.
In Afghanistan, years of droughts and ongoing conflicts have taken their toll on the country’s water supply. Last year, Muslim Hands’ donors funded the construction of wells in villages across Kunduz, Jawzjan and Kabul, where the water infrastructure had been destroyed by floods.
The wells are now providing clean water to over 10,500 people, reducing the risk of potentially life-threatening illnesses. This also puts an end to women and girls having to walk for miles every day to find water safe for use.
To ensure that those using the wells would get the maximum benefit from them, we also delivered hygiene and water-usage training to local families, as well as training them in how to maintain the wells and test the water supply at regular intervals. This has all been made possible thanks to your support. Jazak’Allah khair for every penny donated and every dua made for Muslim Hands!
