In April 2023 violence broke out between warring factions in the Khartoum and Darfur regions of Sudan. At least 4,000 people have been killed and over 4 million people have been forced to flee their homes to survive, including 900,000 refugees.
The UN is reporting acute shortages in food, clean water and medicine which has plunged millions into food insecurity, with children suffering the most.
