What is Walk for the Children of War?

A 5km Walk for Children in Crisis

We hold this 5km walk every year as a symbol of solidarity with children and families affected by war and displacement.

The funds raised go towards providing food parcels filled with essential staples to support a family of seven for an entire month. These parcels help ease the burden for those living in crisis zones, where access to basic necessities is often disrupted or entirely unavailable.

While many of us enjoy the security of stable homes and regular meals, countless children around the world face a very different reality. No child should suffer from the long-term effects of hunger — yet for many children in Gaza, Yemen, Syria, Sudan, and Lebanon, this suffering is all too real. Malnutrition, waterborne diseases, and the absence of safe shelter are daily threats.

Gaza:
• 96% of Gazans rely on humanitarian assistance
• Over 1.9 million people are food insecure

Yemen:
• 80% of the population, including 12.4 million children, requires humanitarian assistance (UN)
• Half of Yemeni children under 5 suffer from severe acute malnutrition (UN)

Syria:
• Food prices increased by 97% in 2021 compared to the previous year (WFP)
• 2.8 million people are internally displaced in north-west Syria — 80% are women and children

Lebanon:
• Over 3,000 people killed and 13,000+ injured, including hundreds of children
• At least 1.3 million people displaced, further straining an already vulnerable population

Sudan:
• Over 15,000 people killed; 11 health facilities destroyed
• 11 million people in need of emergency assistance

Together, we can make a difference. Every step you take helps bring vital support to those who need it most.

Here’s Your Chance to Make a Difference

We need your help to ensure that children living in crisis zones receive the food they urgently need.

Just £100 can provide one food parcel* that will feed a family for an entire month. Each parcel contains essential staples for a family of up to seven people — that’s 420 meals over the course of a month.

With inflation driving up the cost of basic items like flour, oil, and rice, your support is more important than ever.

*Please note: One food parcel in Gaza costs £200 and £100 in other emergency locations
