Explained: The Refugee Crisis in Poland
On Thursday 10th March 2022, our SURGE team flew into Poland to carry out emergency aid distributions for Ukrainian refugees. Yasrab Shah, our Director of Fundraising, spoke to Islam Channel about the situation on the ground:
As of Sunday 13th March, over 2.8 million people have fled Ukraine, with more than 1.7 million refugees crossing into Poland [UN]. The vast majority are women and children.
Our team are distributing food (including halal meat), hygiene kits and blankets to help them get through the worst of the crisis. You can see footage of this intervention on our social media.
