The Digital Graphic Designer produces the design function primarily for the communication team within the Muslim Hands Fundraising Department.

You’ll be responsible for producing and delivering effective design collateral, which is aesthetic, on-brand, and on-strategy for the MH websites, web pages, thematic graphics which include art direction of photography, email templates, social media graphics, and banner ads. The Digital Graphic Designer reports to the Creative Manager and works closely with the Senior Graphic Designer, Communication Manager and the Director of Fundraising.

Position Summary

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce the design and production for websites, campaign graphics, web logos, social media graphics and banners, static and rich banner ads, email campaigns, and email templates. While some projects may require directing external resources, the role is expected to be hands-on (no pun intended).
  • Translate campaign positioning, existing research, and offline/online marketing strategies into effective designs.
  • Work with the Comms team and internal and external developers to ensure aesthetics also are aligned with usability, accessibility, and web standards.
  • Work with Creative Manager and Senior Graphic Designer to translate and create campaign marketing requirements into compelling and appropriate designs.
  • Manage and produce digital design work, including banner sizing and versioning across varying social media outputs.
  • Translate wireframes into simple, easy-to-use User Interfaces.
  • Ensure consistency of brand and creative across digital customer touch points.
  • Provide design support to print collateral when required; creating campaign graphics, logos, identity design, or other similar offline graphics.
  • Stay up-to-date with trends and formats for and web and social media content.
  • This list is illustrative and non-exhaustive in scope. You may be required to undertake any reasonable tasks as and when required by Line Manager from time to time to reflect the changing needs of the organisation.

  • To support with Fundraising activities from time to time, including committing to partake in approximately five live TV appeals during our peak periods
  • To undertake any reasonable responsibilities as required by Line Manager
  • To promote and adhere to all Muslim Hands' policies, procedures and professional practices

You MUST:

  • Be able to demonstrate current eligibility to work within the United Kingdom
  • Be able to EITHER provide a valid Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) certificate (issued within the last year) when requested by Muslim Hands;
  • OR undertake to provide full cooperation for Muslim Hands to perform a DBS Check at the required level appropriate for this role

The Person (Essential):

  • You have very good industry experience and are confident in your design ability. You are able to offer smart creative solutions, and you are a confident self-starter who’s able to handle the varying output needs associated to the thematic areas MH operates within.
  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in digital design, graphic design, graphic communications or a related field.
  • You have a minimum of 2-3 years of successful professional design experience, preferably at a digital agency or in- house Web team for a product-driven business.
  • You are proficient in Adobe Creative Suite products, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
  • You have practical experience of turning briefs into inspiring visuals.
  • You’ll have a very good understanding of layout skills and can turn the complicated into something simple.
  • You possess excellent technical skills, and are able to learn new ones super-fast.
  • You are a confident, upbeat personality with the ability to work in a busy, deadline-driven environment, juggling a number of projects at the same time.
  • You are good at working collaboratively and taking direction, as well as being able to work autonomously, using your initiative to take a project and run with it and delivering amazing results.
  • You are oozing with talent, ambition and bursting with energy.
  • You have a strong portfolio of design work, showing solutions to business problems through effective design.
  • You are able to present concepts and lead internal teams to the correct solution.
  • You have experience in web marketing/web design, with a strong knowledge of design and development principles.
  • You have a strong work ethic and personal accountability.
  • You have strong attention to detail.
  • You have strong time management.
  • You have good interpersonal skills.
  • You have the ability to work well within a team, and be a motivated self-starter.

Desirable Qualities/Skills:

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Premier and After Effects.
  • Knowledge of Islamic financial matters (Zakat, Wakf, Qurbani etc.) is an advantage
  • Speaking either Arabic, French or Urdu is advantageous but not necessary
  • Experience of working within NGO/charity sector
  • Basic knowledge of HTML / CSS
