Muslim Hands, an international relief organisation working in over 40 countries worldwide, is looking for a dynamic individual to join the Fundraising department to develop and maintain relationships with individuals, groups, volunteers, mosques, schools and other Islamic institutions to maximise fundraising and awareness.

This is an exciting opportunity to work for one of the UK's leading Muslim charities. This position is central to our campaign to develop and maintain relationships with individual doors, groups, mosques, schools, volunteers, community centres along with other Islamic institutions in order maximise fundraising and awareness of Muslim Hands.

Based in either our London or Nottingham offices you will be required to travel country-wide, to engage with our target organisations and volunteers and occasional travel between the two-workstations will be required by the post-holder.

You will be working closely with other members of the Fundraising department to gain exposure for the charity and our fundraising campaigns throughout the year.

The Events & Volunteer team is essential to the growth of Muslim Hands both in raising awareness via our events, which host thousands of people throughout the year, increasing awareness of our work and generating donations.

Position Summary


  • Ability to demonstrate current eligibility to work within the United Kingdom
  • Must be able to either: Provide a valid Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) certificate (issued within the last year) when requested by Muslim Hands; OR undertake to provide full cooperation for Muslim Hands to perform a DBS Check at the required level appropriate for this / similar role.
  • Hold a degree or equivalent qualification
  • Have substantial experience in a similar fundraising role, with a significant amount of that within management.
  • Be results driven and able to meet ambitious targets.
  • Possess strong community links and have a history of community service
  • Be able to show a track record of fundraising success.
  • Have a willingness to work outside of regular hours.
  • Be flexible with regular travel between London, Nottingham and overseas.


  • Previous experience of working within the NGO/Charity sector.

Main Responsibilities

  • To develop a vision and strategy for the charities' fundraising growth within the Events and Volunteers’ department.
  • To develop and extend the reach of the charity within various communities.
  • To work closely with the Fundraising Director to coordinate, support and compliment their work
  • To prepare and present regular reports to senior management and trustees
  • To prepare, monitor and report expenditure against a fixed budget
  • To manage annual events (Gaza winter walk, Snowdon, Ben Nevis etc.)
  • To managing volunteers & events coordinators
  • To create and implement recruitment of volunteers
  • To research, draft and implement volunteer policies and procedures (based on fundraising regulations).
  • To monitor, support, and motivate volunteers and their work. This includes managing all social media communication with volunteers.
  • To maintain and update volunteer databases. This includes managing the volunteers list/registrations, inducting all new volunteers and cataloguing volunteers capabilities, interests and availability.
  • To maintain regular contact with volunteers around the country, setting mini challenges during ‘off-peak’ periods so that they remain engaged and active within their specific areas.
  • To research and identify appropriate mosques, schools, community organisations and other Islamic institutions which will support our work.
  • To maintain regular communications with the above organisations to book events and collections throughout the year.
  • To attend events related to mosques and Islamic institutions for networking purposes
  • To assist on live TV appeals
  • To support the Line Manager in achieving day-to-day tasks, undertaking all reasonable requests as required.
