Join us this Ramadan as we walk 5km to support the children of war in Syria, Palestine, Yemen, Afghanistan, Kashmir and the Rohingya.

Raise £200 to provide two families with food parcels to see them through Ramadan. Each parcel will contain enough food to feed a family of 7 iftar and suhor for the entire holy month, that's 840 meals, ma sha Allah!

The Messenger of Allah (saw) said, ‘Whoever provides Iftar for a fasting person will earn the same reward as him, without anything being lessened from the reward of the fasting person’

This is your chance to support vulnerable families with young children facing the toughest hardships by helping them break their fasts this Ramadan. And in sha Allah you will earn the reward of 420 extra fasts, that's the equivalent of fasting 14 extra months!

This year we will be finishing off with a big iftar in the park and we are inviting you to get your family and friends together and join us for a fun day out and raise money for a good cause!

If you have any questions or need further information, please do not hesitate to get in touch at events@muslimhands.org.uk – or call our team at 0115 911 7222.

What is Walk for the Children of War?

We hold this 5km walk every Ramadan as a symbol of our solidarity with children and families affected by war.

The funds raised provide emergency food parcels with all the staples a family of seven needs for a whole month. In Ramadan, this includes sahur and iftar which means for each parcel donated you also get the reward of sustaining the fasts of parents and older children alhamdulillah!

Help Tackle Child Hunger in Conflict Zones

This Ramadan, many children living in conflict zones around the world will not be looking forward to lavish iftars with their families like us. Instead, they will continue to suffer the long-term effects of hunger brought on by war and persecution.

Rocketing inflation and the rising costs of staple foods will put even more children at risk of developing severe acute malnutrition and the myriad of illnesses it causes. Compared to healthy children, severely malnourished children under five are nine times more likely to die from common infections.

Hunger in conflict zones in numbers:

• In Afghanistan 41% of children under 5 have stunted growth
• In Yemen 2.3 million children are on the brink of starvation
• In Syria 6.2 million children are going without food
• In Bangladesh 25% of Rohingya refugee children are malnourished
• In Palestine 35% of children are at risk of not reaching their full developmental potential due to poverty and poor nutrition

These statistics are heartbreaking, but this is your chance to make a difference. This Ramadan, we need your help to ensure that these children receive the food they so desperately need.

Sign-up to walk for the children of war and encourage your friends and families to join in as well and let’s work together to share the blessings of Ramadan.
