Press Release: Our Two New Series About Dhul Hijjah

Two Dhul Hijjah series created to inspire millions of Muslims during Hajj season

UK charity Muslim Hands has created ‘The Best 10 Days’ series in partnership with Islam Channel, as well as 'The Most Blessed 10 Days' series in partnership with TV One, to inspire millions of Muslims during the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah. This period marks the last month in the Islamic calendar and contains two important celebrations: the pilgrimage of Hajj and the festival of sacrifice, more commonly known as Eid al-Adha.

Hajj is the largest religious pilgrimage for Muslims around the world, with an estimated 3 million people attending each year. However, the Saudi government have announced that due to the global pandemic no Muslims from outside of the country will be permitted to travel to Mecca this year. They have, however, allowed a smaller, local contingent to carry out the sacred pilgrimage, which is likely to number in the low thousands. To make the intention and prepare for Hajj can be a lifetime process and there is no doubt that many Muslims will be left disheartened with this year’s outcome.

Muslim Hands has compiled the ten-part series to allow all Muslims to still make the most of Dhul Hijjah, the first ten days being regarded as the best of the Islamic year. ‘The Best Ten Days’ series will go through religious stories, reminders, and rituals to be performed in your home during the 10 days leading up to and including Eid.

The Best 10 Days series will feature on Islam Channel (Sky Digital 737 – Freesat 693) every day, beginning from Thursday 9th July 2020 at 9pm.

The Most Blessed 10 Days series will feature on TV One (Sky Digital 781) every day, beginning from Monday 6th July 2020 at 8.30pm and then repeated at 11.30pm. (See Episode 1 on YouTube).

Yasrab Shah, Muslim Hand Fundraising Director, said:

'These two series will speak about the importance of the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah, which are the best ten days of the entire year to perform good deeds. Many Muslims give precedence to the blessed month of Ramadan, but we want people to know that this month is also important. The two series will be a great way for Muslims to re-engage in their devotion and attention to these ten most blessed days and gives practical advice on how we can maximise our rewards especially during these unprecedented times'.
