Sunnah Recipes: Pomegranate Bark

Muslim Hands

The best of foods are those mentioned by Allah (swt) in the Qur'an & those from the Sunnah! We want to share this recipe using Pomegranate, a fruit mention in the Qur'an in the Ayah: 'And [We produce] gardens of grapevines and olives and pomegranates, similar yet varied. Look at [each of] its fruit when it yields and [at] its ripening. Indeed in that are signs for a people who believe.' [6:99]

Pomegranate Bark

This recipe is a chocolate-covered pomegranate bark. It's a healthy treat, perfect for those post-taraweeh cravings whilst incorporating fruits mentioned in the Qur'an.

Ingredients:

1 Pomegranate (makes 11 small ones)Crushed almondsCrushed Pistachios2 bars of milk chocolate2 bars of white chocolate

INSTRUCTIONS

1.       Line an 8"x8" baking dish with parchment or waxed paper so the paper slightly overhangs the ends for easy removal. Set aside.

2.       Peel your pomegranate and place them on the baking tray in sections.

3.       Put the chocolate in a medium microwave-safe bowl and microwave for 30 seconds.

4.       Stir, and continue microwaving in 15-second increments, stirring after each, until almost melted. Stir to melt entirely so it is very smooth.

5.       Pour melted chocolate onto the pomegranate arils.

6.       Sprinkle with crushed almonds and crushed Pistachios.

7.       Let chill in the refrigerator until set (1+ hours). Enjoy!

"In both (Gardens of Paradise) will be fruit, palm trees, and pomegranates.” [The Noble Qur'an, 55:68]
