Notes

The International Support Unit (ISU) support the development of Muslim Hands partner offices in the areas of fundraising and communication, programme management, administration and finance. At the outset, the unit will focus on the following countries: Canada, France, South Africa and the United Kingdom (this list is non-exhaustive).

Role Overview:

The post-holder will play an integral role in creating engaging content across a range of platforms, including our website, blog, print publications and press releases. The post-holder will be working closely with other members of the fundraising department to deliver compelling content for fundraising campaigns and donor feedback throughout the year. The post-holder can be based in our  Nottingham, London, or Cape Town (South Africa) offices.

This is an exciting opportunity to work for one of the leading Muslim charities. Digital and web are critical to the growth of Muslim Hands, both in raising awareness of our work and generating online donations. The post-holder will be central in expanding this area and helping to further the reach of Muslim Hands.

Position Summary

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a consistent brand and tone of voice across our written content
  • Work alongside others in the digital team, including graphic designers and video production specialists to produce engaging content for our network of websites and social media platforms
  • Plan the structure of online content to reflect our fundraising activities and the breadth / depth of our work
  • Create copy to maximise conversion rate, search engine optimisation, social media engagement and website content
  • Regularly produce new high-quality content by writing suitable copy, proofing, editing, and uploading onto a CMS
  • Continually monitor website content to ensure it remains accurate, updated and interesting
  • Research, collate and prepare project feedback for dissemination to donors, partner organisations and other channels

General Responsibilities

  • To demonstrate Muslim Hands’ values and ethics in own working practices, approach and conduct
  • To support other fundraising activities from time to time, including committing to partake in approximately five live TV Appeals during our peak periods
  • To undertake any reasonable responsibilities as required by your Line Manager
  • To promote and adhere to all Muslim Hands policies, procedures and professional practices

Essential Requirements:

  • Ability to demonstrate current eligibility to work within the United Kingdom
  • Ability to provide a valid DBS certificate (issued within the last year) when requested by Muslim Hands; OR Undertake to provide full cooperation for Muslim Hands to perform a DBS Check at the required level appropriate for this / similar role
  • Ability to travel internationally frequently, to partner offices in Canada, France and South Africa
  • Minimum Bachelor degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience (which developed the skills listed below)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A high degree of flexibility and adaptability to respond to changing needs and issues
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Working knowledge of international development/humanitarian issues
  • Analytical, problem-solving skills
  • Ability to implement effective monthly reporting
  • High level of computer literacy, especially in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work effectively both as a part of a team and independently

Desirable Qualities/Skills:

  • Multi-linguistic skills
  • Knowledge of charity sector work, and familiarity with local, national and international charity work
  • Familiarity with current international standards and best practices for INGOs / humanitarian relief and development agencies
