The Young Muslim Writers Awards is heading to Blackburn, Leicester and London this summer to deliver five creative writing workshops as part of its Writing Workshop Roadshow! Join in the fun, learn new skills, and be inspired with one of our acclaimed writers or poets.

Writing Workshop Roadshow

Join us and learn more about how to write short stories and poems with acclaimed authors and poets.

Blackburn: On 27th July ‘Get Started with Your Short Story’ will be delivered by multi-award-winning author Sufiya Ahmed, who will share her own writing journey with participants before leading an interactive short story masterclass.

Leicester: On Wednesday 31st July, join in to learn about how to write a short story

Blackburn: On 6th August, children can have fun at an engaging poetry workshop delivered by a renowned poet.

Leicester: On Wednesday 21st August, enjoy writing poetry with a renowned poet in our second workshop in Leicester.

London: Our last stop is the Idea Store Whitechapel to pick up new writing tips!

Immerse yourself in one of this year’s summer workshops – you might even want to enter your writing to this year’s Young Muslim Writers Awards competition!

Q. Who can take part in the Writing Workshops Roadshow?

A. The workshops are open to all children. In order to gain most benefit from the workshop, please make sure you are registered for the correct session according to your age, as indicated above.

Q. Is there a fee for the workshops?

A. No, the workshops are completely free to attend, however as spaces are limited you must register to secure your place.

Q. What happens on the day?

A. The workshops will begin with the author or poet sharing their writing with the attendees, and then leading a creating writing workshop. Their may be time to share what you have written with the group at the end, but only if you are feeling confident to do so!

Q. Do I need to bring anything with me?

A. You’re welcome to bring your own notebook and pens, but paper and writing material will be provided at the workshops for you use.
