Bangladesh Floods Emergency

Bangladesh is a country where poverty is high, infrastructure is poor and many families lack the means and opportunity to provide a good life and education for their children. Climate change has only exacerbated the population’s struggles as it leaves its mark across the country.

Extreme floods are devastating north-east Bangladesh for the third time in 2022. Relentless monsoon rains have inundated homes, submerged roads, suspended railway travel and left thousands of families stranded without food or electricity. In the Sylhet district alone, 80% of the area went underwater.

The latest heavy rainfall has arrived at a time when the country is still recovering from the May crisis, when the worst floods in 18 years displaced over three million people.

With your support, our teams can continue distributing emergency parcels to survivors, including essential food and water purification tablets and eventually begin repairing homes once the floods clear.
