Project Location: Fronia Village, Koulikoro Region,MaliProject OverviewFronia Village is a rural community in the Koulikoro Region ofMaliwhere access to clean and safe drinking water remains a major challenge. Families, particularly women and children, are forced to walk long distances—often more than 2 kilometres each day—to collect water for drinking, cooking, and household use.Proposed InterventionThe project aims to install a solar-powered deep borehole system to provide a sustainable source of clean water for the village.Key Features

  • Construction of a deep borehole to access safe groundwater in the rocky terrain.
  • Installation of a solar-powered pump to ensure a reliable and environmentally sustainable water supply.
  • Connection of the borehole to a storage tank and distribution network with taps located around the village.
  • Training of selected community members to manage and maintain the water system.

Expected Impact

  • Provide access to clean water for approximately 1,000–2,000 beneficiaries.
  • Significantly reduce the time and physical burden on women and children who currently travel long distances for water.
  • Improve hygiene and help reduce water-related illnesses within the community.
  • Create a sustainable, community-managed water source that will benefit Fronia Village for many years to come.
