Mothers and young children are at high risk of malnutrition and suffer from a lack of access to specialised healthcare.
Many have lost homes or livelihoods, arriving with nothing and needing urgent shelter, food and support.
Often hit hardest by drought, climate disasters and lack of services, rural communities are also the most isolated from vital services and support networks.
Women and girls face heightened vulnerability due to gendered restrictions, limited access to services and increased protection risks.
Our tandoor bakery project in Kabul provides fresh naans every day to help families free up limited income for other critical needs. We also distribute emergency food packs containing staples like rice, flour and pulses to families coping with severe food shortages.
Safe drinking water and basic sanitation are critical to preventing disease. We deliver clean water access, hygiene kits and sanitation support, improving wellbeing and dignity for thousands of people in need.
Through our Motherkind programme, we deliver essential antenatal and postnatal care, safe delivery support, vaccinations and medical treatment for mothers and new-borns. Motherkind helps reduce preventable maternal and infant deaths and gives children a healthier start in life.
Muslim Hands’ School of Excellence in Kabul provides children with safe classrooms, trained teachers and essential learning resources, empowering them with education, life skills, and opportunities for the future.
With harsh winters and little protection from the elements, many Afghan families are at risk of cold-related illness or death. Muslim Hands supplies warm clothing, blankets and heating fuel to help families survive extreme temperatures.
