This year, Dhul Hijjah will begin around 18th May and end around 15th June, dependent on the moon sighting. So, the first ten days will be from 18th-28th May, dependent on the moon.
The Prophet (saw) said, ‘There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than in these (ten) days’ [Abu Dawud].
For those of us lucky enough to join the pilgrimage to Makkah, the most pressing worry we have for the trip is: will my Hajj be accepted? With that in mind, we’ve put together all the rules of Hajj (and ’Umrah) into a simple guide to ensure you perform this spiritual obligation correctly.
Please note that the below is a list of steps for Hajj Tamattu', the Hajj which most pilgrims perform, where they end their Ihram after the first Sa’ee and then resume it on the 8th of Dhul Hijjah.
This article is part two of the Hajj guide, which begins on 8th Dhul Hijjah, when pilgrims travel to Mina. Please read part one for details of how to perform ’Umrah, beginning when you enter into Ihram before arriving in Makkah.
Without further ado, let’s begin!
On 8th Dhul Hijjah, before travelling to Mina, you must resume your Ihram again at your hotels (read our step-by-step guide on Ihram) and make the intention for Hajj, Allahumma labayka Hajja (see du'a in Arabic).Throughout the day, you must also recite the Talbiyah now and then:
لَبَّيْكَ اللَّهُمَّ لَبَّيْكَ، لَبَّيْكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ لَبَّيْكَ، انَّالْحَمْدَ، وَالنِّعْمَةَ، لَكَ وَالْمُلْكَ، لا شَرِيكَ لَكَ
Labbayka Llāhumma labbayk, labbayka lā sharīka laka labbayk, inna l-ḥamda wa n-ni’mata, laka wa l-mulk, lā sharīka lak.
Ever at Your service, O Allah, every at Your service. Ever at Your Service, You have no partner, ever at Your service. Verily all praise, blessings and dominions are Yours. You have no partner

Go to Mina before Dhuhr (midday), and stay there until after Fajr on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah. While in Mina, you will shorten your Dhuhr, ’Asr and ’Isha prayers into two rakats, but don’t combine any of the prayers.
You will leave Mina after sunrise on 9th Dhul Hijjah.
The Day of Arafah is the most important day of the year, even if you are not performing Hajj, and for that reason we have written a separate article about the blessings of Arafah.
The Prophet (saw) said, ‘The best supplication is the supplication of the Day of ‘Arafah. and the best of what I and the Prophets before me have said is, "There is no God but Allah, alone, without partner, to Him belongs the kingdom, and to Him belongs all praise, and He is powerful over all things”’.
[Tirmidhi]
When Muslims stone the Jamarat they commemorate the stoning of Shaitan by Ibrahim (as) and his family
11th -13th Dhul Hijjah are known as the Days of Tashreeq, and it is recommended to recite the Eid Takbeer throughout these days.
Finally, you have one last step - to perform the Tawaf Al-Wida’, the Farewell Tawaf. This simply means circling the Ka’bah for the last time before leaving Makkah. This should be your final action before leaving Makkah.

The people were ordered to circumambulate the Ka’bah as the last thing they should do in Makkah, but an exception is made for menstruating women.

You have now completed Hajj.
Here is a quick summary of Part Two of this Hajj series - You have resumed Ihram, prayed in Mina, Arafat and Muzdalifah, stoned the Large Jamarah and given Qurbani, performed Tawaf and Sa’ee again, stoned the Jamarat at Mina, and performed your Farewell Tawaf.
May Allah (swt) accept it. Amin
