A List of Essential Du'as for Hajj and Umrah

When is Dhul Hijjah 2026?

This year, Dhul Hijjah will begin around 18th May and end around 15th June, dependent on the moon sighting. So, the first ten days will be from 18th-28th May, dependent on the moon.

The Prophet (saw) said, ‘There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than in these (ten) days’ [Abu Dawud].

Many of you will either have loved ones who will be making Hajj or are fortunate to be able to go yourselves this year. With that in mind, we’ve put together an essential list of the du’as one needs to memorise when going on ’Umrah or Hajj. Please check out our easy guide to how to perform ’Umrah and Hajj as well.

Beginning the journey

Dua's for Tawaf

Du’as for Sa’ee

The following du’as are to be recited during both ’Umrah and Hajj:

When approaching Safa and Marwa:

Inna as-safa wa al-marwah min sha'a'iri Allahi, faman hajja al-bayta aw i'tamara fala junaha 'alayhi an yattawwafa bihima, wa man tatawwa'a khayran fa-innAllaha shakirun 'alim

'Indeed, ˹the hills of˺ Ṣafa and Marwah are among the symbols of Allah. So whoever makes the major or minor pilgrimage to the ˹Sacred˺ House, let them walk between ˹the two hills˺. And whoever does good willingly, Allah is truly Appreciative, All-Knowing.'

[Qur’an, 2:158]

Then say:

‘I begin with that which Allah began with.’

When you reach the top of Safa and Marwa

Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar.

'Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest,  Allah is the Greatest! There is nothing worthy of worship except Allah alone; He has no partners; to Him belongs all sovereignty and praise and He is Powerful over all things. There is nothing worthy of worship except Allah alone; He has fulfilled His promise, He has helped His servant and He alone has defeated the confederates (who allied against His servants).'

Dua's for Hajj

The below dua's are only for Hajj, to be recited after 8th Dhul Hijjah:
