Urgent Relief Needed for Libya Flood Survivors

Devastating flood leaves tens of thousands dependent on aid to survive

Libya has been engulfed in flood waters after a massive torrent of water swept through the Eastern regions of the country, including the cities of Benghazi, Sousse, Derna and Al-Marj. Currently, the port city of Derna has experienced the most devastation due to the collapse of two of their dams.

At present, over 11,000 have been killed by this catastrophic flood and over 10,000 people are missing. Additionally, over 40,000 people have lost their homes and been displaced. However, the death toll in the city of Derna is expected to rise to 20,000 as a quarter of the city has been submerged under water.

Entire families, livelihoods and homes were washed away in a matter of minutes. Survivors of the flood are currently picking up the pieces of their lives but do not have access to the food, shelter or clean drinking water they need to survive.

Libya urgently needs your help to survive this disaster. Give your Sadaqah and Zakat now to save lives in the immediate aftermath of this catastrophe.
